Apple A Day Properties and Malayalam Dailies

'Apple A Day' properties is one of the real estate developers in Kerala who uses all mass media for their marketing activities. Today Hindu and Express reported about a police raid at their offices. Reports indicate that there are many buyers who are waiting for their projects to be handed over for more than two years. Complete picture of the issue is not known. The company website seems to be down and a Google search indicates that there are many people with complaints about the builder.

What should make buyers and public worry is not the incident, whose exact picture is yet to be known, but the attitude of mainstream media towards it. Leading Malayalam dailies, Malayala Manorama and Mathrubhumi have avoided this information in their dailies and found space for everything parochial and frivolous. Who are they serving, reader's interest or advertiser's interest?

  2. Leading malayalam dailies are well aware of the scam, but have chosen to cover up the news since they have earned quite a lot of advertizing revenue from Apple A Day Properties. Police seems to be taking a luke warm approach too. Since many senior IPS officials were seen endorsing Apple A Day properties and marketing their projects along with defaulting MDs Saju Kadavilan and Rajeev Cheruvara, it does not come as a surprise either.

  4. Government should consider this as a serious offence and put a look out notice to catch these guys dead or alive. And Should confiscate these stupid MDs assets and leave them to the public to treat them well.

  13. This is interesting. Being a PR consultant, I can vouch that such things happen. If this is true, Manorama has to take immediate action against the employee. But, what do Manaroama do if the system itself is rotten? Manorama do encourage marketing and editorial disciplines to crossover for the benefit of the organisation serving interest of advertisers.

  15. APPLE A DAY was synonymous with trust and credibility. I assume that the economic recession and rising inflation is taking its toll on private luxury builders. First of all there are a lot of governing norms to begin with in the construction sector in Keral as compared to in Mumbai, thane, pune, delhi, gazhiabd, lucknow, nagpur and other growing mtropolises. It has lot to do with burdensome taxes in the name of luxury imposed by state and central government bodies., First of all these should be shun away . Then a proper subsidy or waiver plans should be announced for residential plot/flat builders. EaRlier considered to be goldmine now the construction sector is turning into a death trap for the need of FDI from NRI,s and reduced margins. The cement, steel, glass, tileware, sanitryware etc all essential backbone of any type of constuction has skyrocketed beyond common man's expectations and reach. So the builders try to levy exorbitant sums at the cost of consumers in the shape of continuous funding in the name of completion in phases. All this can be checked if the corporation of cochin takes a inflexible stand on this issues like making a consumer,s body and allowing direct participation with builder and the final consumer.Plus a intermittent vigil on prices.
This will lead to good housing schemes available to public at large and enhance the value of construction sector.Peoples, trust in the industry needs to be reinvented.....

  16. Shiju, Apple A Day is a case by itself. I am trying to tell you some hearsay for which i do not have and do not intent to get the absolute truth behind.

It seems one of the promoter of Apple was working with Alapatt Trading and swindled a lot of money, a Lancer car and other belongings. He then did few other business till Apple A Day.

Whatever that is, we know for sure that his customers are stranded not knowing where to go for their money or flat. One more thing, his alliances with marketing people of media were unholy and their influence in the editorial section of media gave you and everyone the impression of Apple synonymous with trust and credibility.

I am reminded of a saying like this by a genius - "Only when the tide recedes, we will know who was swimming naked." Apple was swimming naked, recession exposed them.
